CRITICAL HIVE Fraud & integrity report

Fraud signals you can read, explain and act on.

Every completed interview comes with a one-page integrity and authenticity report. It organises what the interview actually observed into five checks, says what was and was not checked, and suggests questions for your human interview. It informs a person. It never decides.

  • Five clear checks
  • No video recorded
  • Never changes the score
  • Available in every workspace

SAMPLE REPORT · ILLUSTRATIVE

Partial assurance

  • Identity capture: selfie on file
  • Live presence: camera live, 3 frames checked, clear
  • Answer authenticity: worth a look. Question 2 was pasted
  • Attention: minor note. Left the tab for 14 seconds
  • Claim consistency: not checked, no CV supplied

ILLUSTRATIVE

01 What it checks

Five pillars, each with its evidence.

For every check the report shows the status, the evidence behind it, what was checked and, just as important, what was not.

Identity capture

Whether the candidate completed the selfie step. The selfie is stored with the record for your team to compare with photo ID later. It is not matched to a government ID by Critical Hive.

Live presence

Virtual-camera software, a frozen or replayed feed, a covered lens, and a handful of still frames checked by AI vision for a visible face, one person and a live image. Frames are discarded; only the result is kept.

Answer authenticity

Pasted text, text arriving in large bursts without typing, and long answers produced implausibly fast, each tied to the question it affected.

Attention and environment

Whether the interview window lost focus and for how long. Brief focus loss is usually innocent, and the report says so.

Claim consistency

If you supply a CV, interview answers are compared with specific claims in it, such as titles, years and tools. Something merely not mentioned is never flagged. With no CV, this check is marked not checked.

An overall level, not a score

Strong, partial or low assurance, with a one-line headline. We use levels instead of a made-up number because the checks do not justify false precision.

02 Built for a human interview

It tells you what to ask next.

Where a signal justifies it, the report suggests specific follow-ups. They are prompts for a conversation, not accusations.

  • “Ask them to talk through their answer to ‘…’ again, live and without notes.”, named by the question that was pasted
  • Hold the next conversation on live video and confirm identity against photo ID, when presence or identity checks are unclear
  • Clarify a specific CV discrepancy, when the interview directly contradicted it
  • Print or save the report as a PDF to share with a hiring manager or client

WHAT WE DELIBERATELY DON'T DO

  • No “AI-written” detectors. They are unreliable and unfair to non-native English writers
  • No face recognition, emotion, accent or appearance analysis
  • No video recording or storage
  • No automatic rejection, and no effect on the skill score
  • No claim to detect deepfakes. Presence checks are signals, and the report tells you what to verify

03 Honest by design

Every report says how to read it.

  • Signals are shown separately from skill scores, which are scored on what the candidate said
  • A signal is a reason to ask a question, not proof of dishonesty
  • A person makes every decision. Nothing here rejects a candidate
  • Candidates are told before they start that these checks run
  • The report is built from collected data with fixed rules, so it is consistent and explainable

04 FAQ

Fraud and integrity, answered.

Does Critical Hive detect deepfakes?

We don't claim to. No tool catches everything. Critical Hive checks for virtual-camera software, a frozen or replayed feed, a covered lens, and uses AI vision on a few still frames to confirm a face is visible, only one person is present and the image looks live. Those are signals for a person to review. If a candidate progresses, we suggest confirming identity on a live video call against photo ID before any offer.

Does a flag reject a candidate or lower their score?

No. Integrity signals are shown separately and never change the skill score. They never reject anyone automatically. They are reasons to ask a question, and people paste notes, lose focus and have bad connections for innocent reasons.

Is video recorded?

No. Critical Hive does not record or store interview video. During the interview a handful of small still frames are checked by AI and then discarded, and only the result of each check is kept. A selfie taken at the start is stored with the candidate record.

Do you check whether answers were written by AI?

Not by analysing the wording. AI-writing detectors are unreliable and are known to unfairly flag people who write English as a second language, so we don't use them. We look at how the answer arrived instead: pasted text, text appearing in large bursts without typing, and long answers produced implausibly fast.

Does it match the selfie to a photo ID?

No. Critical Hive does not collect identity documents and does not match the selfie to a government ID. The report says so plainly. Your team confirms identity against photo ID if the candidate progresses.

Do candidates know the checks are running?

Yes. Before the interview starts, candidates see a plain-language notice and give consent, including to the integrity checks being shared with the employer. A live list in the interview room shows what is being monitored.

What if the candidate has no camera?

The interview still works. The report marks live presence as not checked instead of pretending it was clear, and suggests a live follow-up.

Is the report produced by AI?

The report itself is not. It is assembled from the signals the interview actually collected, using fixed rules, so the same data always produces the same report. The only AI involved is the live-camera frame check and, if you supply a CV, the CV cross-check made when the interview is scored.
